Smith & Wesson M&P Compact
The Military and Police (M&P) semi-automatic pistol is a short recoil operated, locked breech handgun that was first introduced in 2005 by Smith & Wesson. While obviously the intended target is agents in either law enforcement or the military, the weapon is also commercially available for civilian market. As an ergonomically friendly gun, the M&P comes with varying grip options, an ambidextrous slide stop, and reversible magazine release buttons. To appease combative needs the pistol is also fitted with a Picatinny-rail for mounting accessories such as lasers, flashlights, etc. The M&P Compact is identical to the full-sized version with the exception of a shorter (3.5 inch) barrel.
